This morning Gov. Kay Ivey issued her 22nd supplemental emergency proclamation. This proclamation extends the Safer at Home Order through Friday, March 5, 2021, at 5 p.m. No changes have been made in the Safer at Home Order. The Paycheck Protection Program will reopen to new borrowers and certain existing PPP borrowers on Monday, January 11. There will be a second draw of loans that will take place on Wednesday, January 13. After these two dates, PPP loans will shortly open to all other participating lenders. This round of the PPP loans authorizes up to $284 billion toward job retention and certain other expenses through Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Earlier this week, Congress passed a $900 billion COVID-19 relief package. Through this relief package, small businesses will receive more assistance. The bill gives $284 billion towards the Paycheck Protection Program. Eligibility has been expanded for new business industries and organizations. Additionally, $2 billion from the package will be assisting certain Small Business Administration's loan programs. This COVID-19 relief package also includes individual benefits, unemployment benefits, vaccine assistance and more. The bill now awaits President Trump's signature.
