When there is a need in our community, we can always count on the family of Auburn to be there. The health crisis of COVID-19 is no different. While we must stay at home, we still want to make a difference.

In collaboration with East Alabama Medical Center, the Auburn Chamber of Commerce has been able to feed the front-line heroes of this pandemic. Since March 18, two ICU units and testing site employees of EAMC have been given a free lunch. In almost three weeks, 963 meals have been provided. This small act has largely been made possible because of people near and far. You have the opportunity to be a part of this act, which is just a small gesture to say thank you.

The Auburn Chamber will continue to daily facilitate the coordination of getting meals to these 90 employees, ensuring the hospital staff is focused on the continued fight against COVID-19.

Through this opportunity, those who give will also be able to support local restaurants. Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and we know that they are what make Auburn, Auburn. We want to do whatever we can to help our restaurants during this economic downturn, and being able to call on them for these lunches is a great way for us to show support. We are currently working with over 40 restaurants to provide lunch.

Any contribution, big or small, is welcome and will make a difference. If you are interested in supporting this effort, contact the Auburn Chamber’s director of membership development, Stephanie Calhoun at (334) 332-4735 or stephanie@auburnchamber.com.
