The Alabama Department of Public Health has updated the statewide emergency order that will be in effect Saturday, March 28, at 5 p.m. through Friday, April 17.
- The following “non-essential” businesses, venues, and activities should be closed to non-employees or not take place: entertainment venues, athletic facilities, close-contact service providers and retail stores. For a complete list of these businesses, click here.
- All non-work related gatherings of 10 persons or more, or non-work related gatherings of any size that cannot maintain a consistent six-foot distance between persons are prohibited. Employers shall take all reasonable steps to meet these standard for employees and customers.
Businesses who do not comply with the emergency order could be issued up to a $500 fine.
Restaurants can still offer food for take-out or curbside service following the social distancing protocol. At this time, curbside, deliveries and online orders are allowed for non-essential businesses.
