Welcome to the Auburn Chamber!

During the second annual Women in Business luncheon on May 14, the Auburn Chamber honored former Auburn mayor Jan Dempsey as Outstanding Woman in Business for her role as a leader, entrepreneur, philanthropist and mentor.

“Mayor Dempsey made history when she was elected in 1980, not only as our first female mayor, but as a visionary leader, consensus builder, champion for our schools and advocate for the disadvantaged. She saw the city as it could be, and she rallied the community to make it happen. We are thrilled to celebrate her example and the impact she’s made on generations to come,” said Lolly Steiner, Auburn Chamber president.

Along with the award presentation, keynote speaker and life coach Janeese Spencer shared her insight on the power of choice personally and professionally. Janeese is the executive director and owner of Venture Life Coaching and is a certified life coach, motivational speaker, leadership consultant and pastor.

The Auburn Chamber began the Women in Business lunch last year as an opportunity for women in the business community to connect, celebrate women in leadership and receive encouragement. “We are fortunate to have so many impactful, inspiring women in the Auburn community, and it’s important for us to spotlight and celebrate them. This event also gives us the opportunity to strengthen our network and support one another. This is truly a special day for our chamber and the women in our business community,” said Sarah Brown, board chair of the Auburn Chamber.

Nearly 250 women in the Auburn business community attended the luncheon, held at The Hotel at Auburn University. The event was presented by Three Sixty {real estate} and sponsored by Alabama Power, AuburnBank, BMSS and Weichert, Realtors—Porter Properties.
